How Much Is It to Install a Lace Front Wig
Is Your Lace Front Too Expensive?
Lace front wigs have become the next best thing when it comes to hair. Lace front wigs (Check out this tutorial on how to put on a lace front wig) have become so popular that hairstylists have spent time mastering the art of wig making. It's essential to have the perfect lace front wig that doesn't look terrible. However, the better the wig, the more expensive it can become.
It used not to be costly to get a lace front wig, but as hairstylists progressed their techniques, they also increased their rates. Also, it's important to understand that because wigs have become popular, they are in high demand. The higher the demand, the more you can expect to pay.
However, it's important to understand that just because it's a lace front wig, doesn't mean it's worth all the money you're being asked to pay. There are different things you should pay attention to before choosing what to spend.
Also, every hairstylist doesn't create in the same way. This means that every wig you see won't be the same depending on the hairstylist that you choose.
Let's talk about the different reasons you should think about before breaking the bank for a lace front wig.
You Said How Much?!
The one time that I wanted to get a lace front wig made and installed, I was told it would cost about $800. I remember laughing and wondering why it was so expensive to get a wig made. A part of the reason it was so expensive was that of the hairstylist I was asking to make my wig.
She was a famous stylist that people loved going to so she charged quite a bit. Also, this price included about three bundles of the hair without a closure. So, that would've been even more money for me to spend. I did not have it. I also didn't just have $800 lying around to spend on hair.
I know that wigs are an investment, so I wasn't shocked at the amount. I never want to knock what someone may be charging, especially if they consider it to be their craft. It is essential to pay people for their work, but it's also important to have discernment.
If you're going to drop that kind of money, you should know exactly what type of style you want, the kind of hair, as well as the color you prefer. All of these things go into making a great wig. Also, be mindful of the hairstylist you're using. It should be someone you should trust.
Let's get into the right reasons for paying for an expensive lace front wig.
The Right Reasons
The right reasons for paying too much for an expensive lace front wig are slim. However, I've created the top three reasons you should spend a ridiculous amount of money on hair.
If you are in need of a consistent protective style, then this kind of investment may be for you. You should look for a lace front wig that you know will last for a while. Also, you should think about getting a lace front wig if there's a particular color that you've always wanted to rock without manipulating your hair.
The important thing is that the wig fits all your needs before purchasing. Are there specific things about a wig that you know you can't live without? Do you need the lace to be perfect?
If you're willing to spend money, you should make sure you're asking yourself these questions so that you can get everything you need.
What About My HairStylist?
The hairstylist you choose is probably the most critical part of your wig choosing process. Why? Well, this is the person that's going to be doing everything from getting your appropriate sizes to installing the wig.
As mentioned before, the hairstylist you choose should be someone that you trust to give you the best service without overcharging you.
On average, installation of any kind can cost anywhere from $150-$300. In most cases, you will have to pay more to receive the best service. The best service means a lace front wig that looks identical to your hair. Your hairstylist will take care of you from start to finish, and they should be paid and tipped for doing so.
So, make sure you're choosing someone you feel comfortable paying. Of course, be mindful of outrageous prices.
For me, anything over $350 is excessive and not worth the price.
Think About The Kind Of Hair You Choose
The extensions that you choose will determine the total price that you pay for your lace front wig. The extensions, in my opinion, are the second most crucial part.
You don't want to pay for an expensive installation method just for the hair to be subpar. Good hair can be costly, but it doesn't have to be. Do your research before buying extensions for your lace front wig.
You don't want to end up buying something you don't like, or that won't last long.

Long Term Or Nothing
It's important to think about your long-term goals when it comes to what you want your lace front wig to look like. Make sure you're choosing a style and extensions that will last you for about a year or two.
An actual investment will be long term.
Lace front wigs shouldn't need to be often changed, especially if they are taken care of properly.
Bottom Line
There's no way to gauge exactly what a wig should cost because there are so many things that go into making a great lace front wig. Make sure you do the proper research when it comes to stylists and hair extensions.
Don't be afraid to decline to pay for something that you don't think will be beneficial to you in the long run. Pay particular attention to the reasons why you prefer a lace front wig over other styles.
Be prepared to invest but be mindful of what you'll be getting out of your investment. For me, my cap is about $800 for a lace front wig. Figure out what your cap is and be adamant about getting everything that you feel comfortable paying for.
Your lace front wig should be popping and long-lasting before purchasing!
